The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
