The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
