The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
