That was Our argument which We gave to Abraham against his people. We raise in ranks whom We will. Truly your lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing. 83 And We gave to him Ishaq and Yaqoub; each did We guide, and Nuh did We guide before, and of his descendants, Dawood and Sulaiman and Ayub and Yusuf and Musa and Haroun; and thus do We reward those who do good (to others). 84 And also Zakariyya and Yahya and Isa and llyas: each one was of the righteous. 85 And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot. Each one (of them) did We prefer above (Our) creatures, 86 (To them) and to their fathers, and progeny and brethren: We chose them, and we guided them to a straight way. 87 This is the guidance of Allah, which He may give to whomever He wills among His bondmen; and had they ascribed partners (to Allah), their deeds would have been wasted. 88 Those were the people to whom We gave the Book and the Law and the Prophethood. But if they reject these things We shall entrust them to a people who will not deny. 89 Those were the (prophets) who received Allah's guidance: Copy the guidance they received; Say: "No reward for this do I ask of you: This is no less than a message for the nations." 90
