And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
