A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 And when Our Might fell upon them they only said: 'We have indeed been harmdoers' 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 Then We shall narrate to them with knowledge the whole account. For surely, We were not away from them. 7 (Everyone's deeds) will certainly be weighed (and evaluated) on the Day of Judgment. Those whose good deeds weigh heavier than their bad deeds will have everlasting happiness. 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 We established you in the earth and made for you a livelihood but little is it that you give thanks. 10
