Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they might learn humility. 94 We then replaced their misfortune with well-being until they were relieved and began saying, "Our fathers had also experienced good and bad days." Suddenly, We struck them (with torment) while they were all unaware (of what was happening). 95 And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning." 96 Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 97 or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day? 98 Do they feel secure against the design of Allah None can feel secure against the design of Allah except the utter losers. 99
