There is not a region to which We sent a prophet and did not inflict upon its people adversity and hardship so that they may submit. 94 But when We changed hardship to ease, and they rose and prospered, (they forgot Our favours) and said: "Our ancestors had also known suffering and joy." So We caught them unawares. 95 And if the people of the towns had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have opened up for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they rejected, so We overtook them for what they had earned. 96 What! do the people of the towns then feel secure from Our punishment coming to them by night while they sleep? 97 Do the people of the cities feel secure Our might shall not come upon them in daylight while they are playing? 98 Can they remain secure against the plan of God? Only they feel secure against the plan of God who are certain of being ruined. 99
