Aaron had told them before, "My people, you are deceived by the calf. Your Lord is the Beneficent God. Follow me and obey my orders". 90 They said, "We will never cease being devoted to the calf until Moses returns to us." 91 (Musa) said: O Haroun! what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?" 93 'Son of my mother,' Aaron said, 'take me not by the beard, or the head! I was fearful that thou wouldst say, "Thou hast divided the Children of Israel, and thou hast not observed my word." 94 [Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)" 95 He said: I perceived what they perceive not, so I seized a handful from the footsteps of the messenger, and then threw it in. Thus my soul commended to me. 96 [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. 97 Your God is only the One God; there is no god, but He alone who in His knowledge embraces everything.' 98 Thus We tell you, (Muhammad), the stories of the past and We have given you the Quran. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,- 101 On the day the Trumpet is blown; and We shall muster the sinners upon that day with eyes staring, 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We know best what they say. The moderate ones among them will say, "You did not live on earth for more than a day." 104
