Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

And We sent not a prophet to any township but We laid hold of the people thereof with tribulation and distress that haply they may humble themselves. 94 But when We changed hardship to ease, and they rose and prospered, (they forgot Our favours) and said: "Our ancestors had also known suffering and joy." So We caught them unawares. 95 But if the people of these regions had believed and feared God, We would surely have showered on them blessings of the heavens and the earth; but they only denied, and We punished them for their deeds. 96 Do the people of the dwellings not fear that Our wrath may come upon them at night while they are asleep? 97 What! do the people of the towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they play? 98 Can they remain secure against the plan of God? Only they feel secure against the plan of God who are certain of being ruined. 99
