The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
