Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

And never did We send any Prophet to a dwelling but We seized its people with hardship and adversity so that they may become humble. 94 Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive. 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them as a night-raid while they sleep? 97 Or are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them in the daytime while they play? 98 Did they consider themselves secure from the retribution of God? No one can have such attitude except those who are lost. 99
