Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and utterly humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
