The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ THEY ASK YOU of (benefits accruing as) spoils of war. Tell them: "The benefits belong to God and His Messenger." So fulfil your duty to God and keep peace among yourselves. Obey God and the Prophet, If you really believe. 1 For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord; 2 Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them. 3 Those: it is they who are the true believers. For them are degrees with their Lord and forgiveness and a provision honourable. 4 Even as thy Lord caused thee (Muhammad) to go forth from thy home with the Truth, and lo! a party of the believers were averse (to it). 5 They disputed with you about the truth after it had become clear, (and they went forth) as if they were being driven to death while they saw (it). 6 [Remember, O believers], when Allah promised you one of the two groups - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allah intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers 7 That He might cause the Truth to triumph and bring vanity to naught, however much the guilty might oppose; 8 [Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another." 9 Allah appointed it only as good tidings, and that your hearts thereby might be at rest. Victory cometh only by the help of Allah. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
