The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask thee concerning (things taken as) spoils of war. Say: "(such) spoils are at the disposal of Allah and the Messenger: So fear Allah, and keep straight the relations between yourselves: Obey Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe." 1 For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord; 2 They are steadfast in prayer and spend part of what We have given them for the cause of God. 3 Those: it is they who are the true believers. For them are degrees with their Lord and forgiveness and a provision honourable. 4 Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse; 5 They disputed with you about the truth after that had become evident, as if they were being driven to death with their eyes wide open. 6 (Remember) when Allah promised to grant you one of the two parties (at Badr), and you wished for the one that was not strong. Allah wanted to establish the truth by His Words and to sever the unbelievers to the last, 7 so that He might prove the truth to be true and the false to be false, however much the wrongdoers might dislike it. 8 When you sought aid from your Lord, so He answered you: I will assist you with a thousand of the angels following one another. 9 Allah appointed it only as good tidings, and that your hearts thereby might be at rest. Victory cometh only by the help of Allah. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
