And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority 96 to Pharaoh and his nobles. But they followed the command of Pharaoh and the command of Pharaoh was not rightly directed. 97 He shall lead his people on the resurrection day, and bring them down to the fire; and evil the place to which they are brought. 98 And they were followed in this [world] with a curse and on the Day of Resurrection. And wretched is the gift which is given. 99 That is an account of some towns which We recount to you. Of them some are still standing and some have been mown down. 100 We did not wrong them; they wronged themselves; the deities they called on besides God availed them nothing: when God's command came upon them, they only added to their ruin. 101 And such is the punishment of your Lord when He punishes the towns while they are unjust; surely His punishment is painful, severe. 102 In this there is, certainly, a lesson for those who fear the torment of the next life in which all people will be gathered together 103 during a single day. We have deferred this day for an appointed time. 104 On the day when it shall come, no soul shall speak except with His permission, then (some) of them shall be unhappy and (others) happy. 105 As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling. 106 [They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will. Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends. 107 ۞ And those who are blessed shall be in the Garden: They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as thy Lord willeth: a gift without break. 108 Therefore do not be doubtful as to what these worship. They worship only that which their fathers worshiped before them. We shall indeed pay them in full their undiminished measure. 109
