And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 until the day of a known time." 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
