Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
