Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 till the appointed time. 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 except for Your chosen servants." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
