At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
