AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 that they earned did not avail them. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 verily, thy Sustainer is the all-knowing Creator of all things! 86 And assuredly We have vouchsafed unto thee seven of the repetitions and the mighty Qur'an. 87 Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 even as We had sent warning to those who had divided their religion into fragments; 90 Who have made the Quran into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 Of what they used to do. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 and those who set up other gods with Allah, indeed, they will soon know. 96 And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. 97 but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration, 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
