The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 and clearly tell the unbelievers: "I am most certainly a plain warner," 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 by your Lord, We shall question them all 92 for whatever they have done! 93 Therefore publicly announce what you are commanded, and turn away from the polytheists. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 Therefore proclaim the Purity of your Lord with praise, and be of those who prostrate. 98 and worship your Lord until the last moment (of your life) that will most certainly come. 99
