۞ for thy Sustainer has ordained that you shall worship none but Him. And do good unto [thy] parents. Should one of them, or both, attain to old age in thy care, never say "Ugh" to them or scold them, but [always] speak unto them with reverent speech, 23 "And look after them with kindness and love, and say: "O Lord, have mercy on them as they nourished me when I was small." 24 Your Sustainer is fully aware of what is in your hearts. If you are righteous, [He will forgive you your errors]: for, behold, He is much-forgiving to those who turn unto Him again and again. 25 So give to your relatives what is their due, and to those who are needy, and the wayfarers; and do not dissipate (your wealth) extravagantly. 26 for the wasteful are the brothers of satan; and satan is ungrateful to his Lord. 27 And if thou turnest away from them awaiting a mercy from thy Lord which thou hopest, then speak unto them a gentle speech. 28 Be neither miserly, nor so open-handed that you suffer reproach and become destitute. 29 Surely your Lord makes plentiful the means of subsistence for whom He pleases and He straitens (them); surely He is ever Aware of, Seeing, His servants. 30
