The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to God who has sent down to His servant -- the Book, which is free from any ambiguity 1 and which rightly directs, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to proclaim to the believers who do righteous deeds that they shall have an excellent recompense, 2 In which they will abide forever. 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 When those young men took shelter in the cave, and prayed: "O Lord, grant us Your favour and dispose our affair aright," 10 Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. 11 We then awakened them to see which of the two groups more accurately tells the period they had stayed. 12
