The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to God who has sent down to His servant -- the Book, which is free from any ambiguity 1 an unerringly Straight Book, meant to warn of a stern punishment from Allah, and to proclaim, to those who believe and work righteous deeds, the tiding that theirs shall be a good reward 2 In which they will remain forever 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 No knowledge whatever have they of Him, and neither had their forefathers: dreadful - is this saying that comes out of their mouths, [and] nothing but falsehood do they utter! 5 Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow. 6 We have made whatever exists on the earth its adornment to test and try them (and) know who acts better; 7 And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees, etc.). 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 And afterward We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties would best calculate the time that they had tarried. 12
