Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?- 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. 15 And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And devour the inheritance devouring greedily, 19 and love the riches, loving them ardently. 20 No indeed! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 And His bonds will be such as none other can bind. 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
