The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to God. He has sent the Book to His servant and has made it a flawless guide (for human beings) 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall abide for ever; 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow. 6 Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Do you not think that the story of the Companions of the Cave and the Inscription was one of Our marvelous miracles? 9 When those young men took shelter in the cave, and prayed: "O Lord, grant us Your favour and dispose our affair aright," 10 We then thumped upon their ears in the Cave for a number of years. (* Put them to sleep.) 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
