Moses said, "My Lord! open up my heart, 25 And ease for me my task 26 "And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Musa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 16, Page 159]. 27 That they may understand my speech. 28 And give to me an aider from my family: 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Confirm my strength with him 31 and associate him with me in my task. 32 “In order that we may profusely proclaim Your Purity.” 33 and remember Thee abundantly. 34 You are surely watching over us. 35 He said: surely thou art granted thy petition, O Musa! 36 We have bestowed Our favour on you before this 37 Remember when We inspired your mother with a certain inspiration 38 'Put him in a wooden box and cast it in the river. The river will cast it on the bank. An enemy of Ours, and his, will retrieve it.' We bestowed Our love on you that you may be reared under Our eyes. 39 "Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses! 40 I have chosen you for Myself. 41 "Go you and your brother with My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and do not, you both, slacken and become weak in My Remembrance. 42 Go both of you to the Pharaoh; he has become a rebel. 43 Speak to him gently. He may possibly take heed or may come to have fear." 44 They said: Our Lord! Lo! we fear that he may be beforehand with us or that he may play the tyrant. 45 The Lord replied them, "Do not be afraid; I Am with you all the time, listening and seeing." 46 Both of you go to him (Pharaoh) and say: "We are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel depart with us, and do not punish them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; peace be on him who follows guidance! 47 "'Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn away.'" 48 (Firon) said: And who is your Lord, O Musa? 49 Musa said: our Lord is He who vouchsafed unto everything its creation, then guided it. 50 (The Pharaoh) said: "And what about the former generations?" 51 [Moses] answered: "Knowledge thereof rests with my Sustainer [alone, and is laid down] in His decree; my Sustainer does not err, and neither does He forget." 52 The One Who has made the earth a bed for you and kept operative roads for you in it and sent down water from the sky; so with it We produced different pairs of vegetation. 53 Do you eat, and pasture your cattle! Surely in that are signs for men possessing reason. 54
