The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
