Moses said: "O my Lord, enlarge my breast, 25 and ease my task for me, 26 and my tongue fluent 27 That they may understand my saying. 28 and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear my burden - 29 Aaron my brother 30 Confirm my strength with him 31 Let him be my partner in this task 32 that we may abundantly extol Your glory; 33 And remember Thee oft. 34 Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing." 35 He answered: "Granted is your prayer, O Moses. 36 And certainly We bestowed on you a favor at another time; 37 when We revealed Our will to your mother, saying, 38 Saying: Throw him into the ark, and throw it into the river, then the river shall throw it on to the bank, and there an enemy to Me and an enemy to him shall take him. And I endued thee with love from Me that thou mightest be trained according to My will, 39 when thy sister went out, saying, "Shall I point you to one to have charge of him?" So We returned thee to thy mother that she might rejoice, and not sorrow. Then thou slewest; a living soul, and We delivered thee out of grief, and We tried thee with many trials. Many years among the people of Midian thou didst sojourn, then camest hither, Moses, according to a decree. 40 I have chosen you for My service. 41 "Go forth, [then,] thou and thy brother, with My messages, and never tire of remembering Me: 42 Go to Pharaoh, for he has become insolent. 43 But speak unto him in a mild manner, so that he might bethink himself or [at least] be filled with apprehension. 44 'O our Lord,' said Moses and Aaron, 'truly we fear he may exceed against us, or wax insolent.' 45 He (Allah) said: "Fear not, verily! I am with you both, hearing and seeing. 46 So go ye unto him and say: Lo! we are two messengers of thy Lord. So let the children of Israel go with us, and torment them not. We bring thee a token from thy Lord. And peace will be for him who followeth right guidance. 47 Surely it has been revealed to us that the chastisement will surely come upon him who rejects and turns back. 48 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?" 49 Musa said: our Lord is He who vouchsafed unto everything its creation, then guided it. 50 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "What about the generations of old?" 51 [Moses] answered: "Knowledge thereof rests with my Sustainer [alone, and is laid down] in His decree; my Sustainer does not err, and neither does He forget." 52 It is God who has made the earth as a cradle for you with roads for you to travel. He has sent water from the sky to produce various pairs of plants. 53 So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs in this for people of understanding. 54
