Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe? 30 And We placed firm mountains on earth lest it should sway with them, and We made wide paths in them that they may find their way; 31 And We have made the sky a roof, protected; and they turn away from its signs. 32 It is He who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon, each swimming in a sky. 33 We have given no man everlastingness before you. So then if you die, will they live ever after? 34 Every soul shall taste of death; and We try you with evil and good for a testing, then unto Us you shall be returned. 35 When the unbelievers see you they make you an object of fun, saying: "Is he the one who mentions your gods?" They say so, and yet they reject with disdain the very mention of the Most Compassionate Lord. 36 Man is made of inordinate haste. We will show you Our signs, then you will not desire to hasten (the punishment). 37 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 38 Would that the unbelievers knew that no one would protect their faces and backs against the fire, nor they would be helped. 39 It will overtake them suddenly, dumbfounding them. They shall be unable to ward it off, and they shall not be respited. 40 And certainly apostles before you were scoffed at, then there befell those of them who scoffed that at which they had scoffed. 41
