And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
