The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
