The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 for, indeed, We had vouchsafed revelation unto Moses in order that they might find the right way. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
