And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
