The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
