Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
