And indeed We gave Moosa the Book and appointed with him his brother Haroon as a deputy. 35 And We command: "Go ye both, to the people who have rejected our Signs:" And those (people) We destroyed with utter destruction. 36 We had drowned the people of Noah when they had accused the apostles of lies, and turned them into an example for men. We have prepared a painful punishment for the wicked. 37 also to Aad and Thamood and the nation of ErRass and many generations in between; 38 to each of them We gave examples, and each of them We utterly ruined. 39 And they [who now deny Our messages] must surely have come across that town which was rained upon by a rain of evil: have they, then, never beheld it [with their minds eye]? But nay, they would not believe in resurrection! 40 Whenever they see you, they mock you (saying): 'Is this whom Allah has sent as a Messenger? 41 He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment! 42 Have you considered him who takes his own lust for his god? Can you stand a surety for him? 43 Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like the cattle; nay, even worse than the cattle. 44
