Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 Send forth with us the Children of Israel' 17 Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 Said Moosa, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers preceding you.” 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
