And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
