And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
