The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
