Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
