And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
