Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
