And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
