And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
