Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
