Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
