And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
